Schools and Colleges - Survey of schools' use of AP

MEASURING THE LEVEL OF ADDITIONAL SEMH SUPPORT  PROVIDED BY THE SECONDARY SECTOR IN THE COUNTY CURRENTLY

1.  Why are we asking schools about their use of AP?

The SEIPS are currently facing significant extra demand from schools for places at both KS3 and KS4. As we work to:

  • secure increased funding,

  • reconsider our delivery models,

we need to have a clear picture of the extent of provision made by schools who also channel considerable resources into supporting semh students.

We think an overview of this information will prove useful to the LA’s TSIL discussions and to schools in reviewing their own provision.

2. Will our school be identified in the survey report?

We ask you to identify your school for the purposes of tracking submissions.  Whilst the identity of individual schools’ returns will be known within each Partnership, we will only publish summary data for local groups and the county as a whole.  This will not identify individual schools.

Summary data will be circulated to all participating schools.

3. Which pupils should we "count" in our answers?

Our questions focus on those children and young people in your schools who have semh needs that have led them to be considered “at risk” of exclusion but who have not been taken on by your Partnership for full time programme management at Tier 4.

4. We do not currently use any external Alternative Provision - do we need to repsond to the survey?

Yes  - we will be grateful for “nil” returns – we know that the level of need varies from school to school.
